Style is art, hence those who appreciate it or live and breathe it are moved by aspiration. They’re students and lovers within their respective right. I enjoy sharpening my style IQ, educating and sharing it. I consider myself a student and lover of fashion. When one can humbly put themselves in those shoes, their sense of style evolves effortlessly. They have an eye for style and appreciate the mystery behind a complete look that they can break apart. Their keen eye catches the details or lack thereof, that the average person doesn’t notice. In my spare time I love finding new brands, immersing myself in the latest publications, as well as visiting museums and exhibits. Always place yourself in the mind of a student to authentically elevate your personal style and excel in all that you do.
Recently, I had the opportunity to check out THE BLONDS (@theblondsny) exhibition at SCAD FASH in Atlanta, Georgia. THE BLONDS is a luxury apparel brand based in New York. The garments are luxe and exclusive. Think of high fashion meets costume design. There is absolute power in glamour. I felt like a kid in a candy store immersed amongst a mirage of over eighty designs. The elaborate embroidery, crystals, and one-of-a-kind designs had me at HELLO. At one point, a student worker was like ma’am you’re too close. Ha, of course I could see her point upon taming my excitement.
David and Phillipe Blond, known collectively as THE BLONDS, met at the famous Roxy nightclub. The designers are drawn to clothing built to last while supplying high drama. THE BLONDS create garments that exude rebellious glamour and decadent luxury. Designs transcend limitations with over-the-top twists that cater to self-expression. Their signature looks have been worn by celebrities like Beyonce, Madonna, Billy Porter, and Rihanna. The designers recently showcased their SS24 collection “BLOND TITANS” at Spring Studios.
The exhibition is on view through January 28, 2024, and is a must see. It’s art and creativity at its finest. THE BLONDS, Glamour, Fashion, Fantasy is curated by Rafael Gomes, creative director of SCAD FASH museums.
